I'm Randy Vargas
I’m a Cuban illustrator working in the realms of science fiction and fantasy. Based in Barcelona, I bring worlds to life for book covers, games, and TCGs.
With a background in fine art and a lifelong fascination with speculative fiction, I bring a cinematic and emotionally resonant approach to every piece I create. My work is driven by storytelling — I don’t just paint characters, I aim to suggest the world they inhabit, the story behind their eyes, and the tension in their surroundings.
You may have seen my illustrations on projects for companies like Riot Games, Wizards of the Coast, Valve Corporation, and Mynet Inc., among others. I’ve had the privilege of working across platforms — from book covers and videogames to TCGs and concept art — always with a focus on blending narrative depth with visual impact.
When I’m not illustrating, I’m likely sketching space operas in my head, revisiting sci-fi classics, or experimenting with new techniques to bring fresh energy to my work.
